OEM vs Private Label vs White Label Mahjong: Which Model Fits Your Brand?

The difference between OEM, private label and white label manufacturing — costs, timelines, MOQs and control — explained by the factory that runs all three.

White Label: Your Logo, Our Catalog

White label means taking an existing, proven set structure and applying your branding to packaging, inserts and selected logo placements. It is the fastest route to market — sampling is quick because the tiles themselves are unchanged, and minimums are gentle. The trade-off: your competitor can buy a near-identical set.

Private Label: Light Customization

Private label starts from existing tooling but adjusts it to you: your colorway, your tile-back pattern, matched packaging, maybe a custom joker. MOQs start at 50 sets. This is the sweet spot for most young brands — visibly yours, without tooling investment.

OEM: Built to Your Specification

OEM (original equipment manufacturing) is a full custom build: new artwork program, new color development, Pantone matching, engineered packaging, sometimes new molds. It commands higher MOQs and longer timelines, and it is the only model that produces a product nobody else can copy. Our R&D team supports OEM from parametric icon design through laser prototyping.

How to Choose

Choose white label to test a channel in one season. Choose private label to build a recognizable brand on a sane budget. Choose OEM when you have proven demand worth protecting. Many of our partners ladder through all three — and the data is consistent: brands that reach OEM pricing tiers within 18 months are the ones that started private label rather than waiting for perfect.
